About me
Mrs. Klaassen is a trained Engineering and Technology educator with a passion for helping students develop into problem-solvers and critical thinkers. She has taught a variety of subjects, including Math, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA), Advanced Careers-Innovations in Science and Technology, as well as Business, Engineering, and Computer Literacy courses. In addition, Mrs. Klaassen has mentored and coached high school MESA, Robotics, and CyberPatriot extracurricular teams, leading them to qualify for state, regional, and national competitions.
Mrs. Klaassen has extensive experience working at both private and public education institutions, where she has been instrumental in implementing STEM programs. She is passionate about supporting, mentoring, and volunteering for STEM-related initiatives.
Mrs. Klaassen has been in the education field for over 20 years and currently serves as the Southeast Regional Coordinator for New Mexico MESA. Throughout her career, she has received several educator awards and honors, including the New Mexico ACTE Outstanding New CTE Teacher of the Year (2013), Outstanding New Mexico MESA Advisor (2014), Dr. Sheila Horan BEST Robotics Coach Award (2015), and most recently the New Mexico ACTE Carl Perkins Community Service Award (2025).
